Sometimes you wonder what would happen if one detail changed… It can be a small detail, like being born in Europe instead of Africa, or being born into a rich, well-known family in Africa instead of a modest one in Europe. But you will never know… because we want to take the good parts from both sides. The kid born in Morocco wants the European passport, and the kid born in Germany wants the Moroccan sun and the family warmth at 10 PM on a Tuesday. We are all window-shopping each other’s lives.
It’s interesting how life is not linear, and as I said in one of the previous articles, life is a sine function. But the part I didn’t mention is the frequency. Bad news: it’s not always constant. Sometimes the oscillations are so fast that you can barely catch your breath; other times, you are stuck in a flat area and you start asking if the function is broken, or maybe you are just in a phase shift :). This non-linearity could also be said about AI. Is it true that AI can take your job as a developer, while on the other hand it could make you a startup owner? Because when the cost of creating code gets smaller, ideas can be achieved more easily, especially with all the IT skills that you have gathered over the years… Back in 2019, in our agency Artblizzard, we needed five people to deliver a website. Today, as we all know, one person with the right prompt and a clear vision can achieve the same result… But personally, I don’t see it as a threat. I see it as a redistribution of power (I sound like a politician right now, or someone trying to sell you some NFT back in 2021 haha).
The thing I read about these reshuffling moments in history is that they don’t reward the people with the most knowledge; it’s the opposite. They reward the people who have the least attachment to the old way of doing things. The developer with 18 years of experience in one framework is protecting his castle, while some newbie who started coding in the last few months with Claude Code is already building the next one.
